Mission-Ready Care at Sea
UGS equips US Navy berthing barge with fully integrated medical and dental facilities through expert performance and installation.
The UGS team recently completed one of its most complex and rewarding projects aboard a berthing barge by enhancing critical medical and dental facilities. The comprehensive upgrade included fully equipped medical and dental exam and treatment rooms and lab space.
Rooms were outfitted with exam tables and lights, patient vitals monitoring equipment, laboratory equipment, phlebotomy chairs, extraoral and intraoral X-ray units, dental chairs and delivery systems, medical instrument and anesthesia carts, sterilization center cabinetry, and evacuation systems. Executing a project of this scale in a shipboard environment required seamless coordination between our trusted manufacturing partners and UGS’s cross-trained installation team.
The precise planning and disciplined execution by UGS ensured that the project was successfully completed on schedule to ensure no disruptions in fleet operations.
Best-in-class to be mission ready
UGS’s commitment to partnering with the best-in-class dental manufacturers, combined with deep shipboard experience and the know-how to take on challenges unique to the military represents a forward step for a reliable mission-ready corps.
Berthing barges, or Auxiliary Personnel Lighter (APL) in the United States Navy, function in a critical role in housing military personnel during Planned Ship Maintenance, overhauls, or temporary assignments. The non-propelled barge can accommodate 600 personnel, functioning as a fully equipped, temporary living facility equipped with offices, classrooms and recreation spaces, as well as medical and dental facilities to assure that sailors receive essential care and stay mission ready.
Quality in every room
Planmeca intraoral imaging is available for precise 2D imaging while Air Techniques air compressors, vacuum pumps, and amalgam separators keep operations running smoothly behind the scenes.
